Lefkes Village, Paros Greece

Byzantino Boutique Hotel, Paros Greece

Lefkes, the ancient Capital of Paros is situated 11 km from the port of Parikia and about 19 km from the domestic airport at Aliki. The famous beaches of Paros’ south coast are in a 10 minutes driving distance from Lefkes either by car or public bus.
The village of Lefkes lies on a hillside with a pine tree forest and in the surrounding lavish olives groves grow still olive trees, which have sprung already 2000 years before.
At 300m above the sea level Lefkes offers a breathtaking view to the island of Naxos.

The architecture mix, a historical inheritance, gives to Lefkes a separate charm. Built like an altitude amphitheater appear typical white washed Cycladic cubic houses combined with Venetian mansions and picturesque dovecotes overlooked along the hillside by ancient windmills. In appreciation to their architectural value has started the renovation of those famous Cycladic wheat mills. The extraordinary scenery is dominated by the Byzantine church of Aghia Triada, which is built with translucent Parian marble. It seems the entire environment around of Lefkes is speckled with to the orthodox Saints dedicated blue domed chapels, where the Lefkes villagers meet to celebrate their name’s day.
In a splendid nature, Lefkes offers the ambiance of holiday lingers.

From Lefkes it is, where the famous Byzantine road starts, leading through vine yards and olive groves to the village of Prodromos and further to the sea.

For the culinary delight are at Lefkes typical Greek Kafenions and at least 2 Family taverns (the most famous of the Island) are serving local meals, traditionally cooked in the way of one of the Mediterranean Diets. (Since 2010 on UNESCO’s lists of Intangible Heritage.)

And for the eye the souvenir shops of Lefkes provide traditional handicrafts and deco-arts.

The cultural life of Lefkes underlines the “House of Literature”, where journalists and authors from around the world spend time to finish their writings and dedicate their work to Paros..info
